A community growth engine for Discord
Advice Bot was a straightforward marketing tool designed for Discord servers with two primary functions working in tandem.
First: it helped users discover new servers by posting user-created ads in a designated "Partners" channel — creating a mutually beneficial system where server owners could reach new audiences and users could find communities they'd actually enjoy.
Second: it rewarded users with points for joining and engaging in other servers. Those points could then be spent to run ads for their own servers — creating a cycle where users continually earned and spent, and the ecosystem stayed active without requiring constant manual curation.
The mechanic was simple. The flywheel it created was powerful. Server owners had an incentive to get their members using the bot, members had an incentive to engage, and the whole system grew organically through participation rather than paid promotion.
Discord Verified — 10,000 servers entirely organic
Advice Bot reached Discord Verified status — a formal verification from Discord that recognizes bots meeting quality, safety, and scale thresholds. It's not handed out automatically; the bot had to earn it through consistent performance and user trust.
The growth was entirely organic. No paid ads, no featured placements, no influencer promotion. Server owners added the bot because it was useful, told their members about it, and members carried it to other servers. The network effects built into the product design were the distribution strategy.
